    Diversity is a word that is already part of Ocyan members’ vocabulary. Since 2019, when the Diversity and Inclusion Program was created, we have gone through some phases and were able to celebrate achievements. The 2020 reputation survey, the results of which were released recently, showed that more than 80% of the members noticed Ocyan’s advances in the discussions on this matter.

    Now, the time has come to start the Consolidation and Sustainability processes, which will be led, respectively by the Personnel and Communication areas together with the Affinity Groups.

    “We have considered the Program and we have understood that it was time for us to adjust the course, look for effective actions to improve our indicators on all fronts of action, while prioritizing awareness, which will remain permanently in our actions”, explains Nir Lander, Director of Personnel and Management, and Leader of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

    Second time

    On the eve of launching the Race Affinity Group (AG), which will be led by ODN II commander, Ricardo Amoedo, the program announces other news. The Affinity Groups for People with Disabilities and Gender Equality will have a new command, Carlos Alberto Guedes and Brena Posses, who did a great job in this first moment, giving way to Kelly Astolpho and Ana Paula Santana, respectively.

    Kelly says that her goal in leading the group will be to contribute to the company in the recruitment and development processes for professionals with disabilities, in addition to helping build a healthy work environment and coexistence between people with and without disabilities, using tools such as information, knowledge and awareness.

    “I like the idea of being part of a job that I believe in, which is aligned with my personal values. And having the support of the company I have been working for nine years is even more exciting”, she says. And she adds, “I see the importance of multiplying the idea that the person with a disability has the potential, ability and capacity to work on whatever he or she wants, learn and evolve as much as they want”.

    The same feeling of excitement is shared by Ana Paula. She says she is excited about the universe of possibilities that she can explore and add to the program. “I have received the invitation with open arms and I hope to contribute positively to the next steps that we will have to take to further promote diversity in our business”, she highlights.

    In addition, from now on, each AG leader will mentor one of our RAEs. Marco Aurélio, Sustainability RAE, will be the mentor of the People with Disabilities AG, Guilherme Britto, Legal RAE, will be in charge of the Gender Equality AG, and Rogério Ibrahim, Finance and Investments RAE, will be the mentor of the Race AG. The purpose of this action is to bring top leadership closer to the discussion, enabling a permanent exchange between them and the GAs leaders.

    Ambassadors

    Volunteers also have some news. In this new phase, they will be promoted to ambassadors, taking an active role in the preparation of actions within the AGs and those who stand out during the year will be recognized at the end of the cycle. In December, registrations will open, and those already participating in the AGs can apply again. Those interested in participating will be evaluated by a committee that will select six ambassadors for each group. In pairs, they will be responsible for one of the three guiding principles of each AG.

    “We will also offer specific training so that ambassadors have more subsidies when it comes to suggesting actions, campaigns, so that they can give lectures or workshops to other members,” says Nir.
