Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the world leader in the production of biopolymers, will reinforce, during Feira K ,the world’s largest event in the plastics and rubbers sector, its position in favor of the Circular Economy, a consumption concept that seeks to form a cycle from production to disposal. From October 16 to 23, in Düsseldorf, Germany, news will be presented on Braskem’s portfolio, as well as solutions with lower environmental and post-consumption impact.

The company will also officialize at the event the partnership with the companyKautex Maschinenbau , to whom the petrochemical company will now supply Green Plastic, made from sugar cane, and post-consumption resin (PCR), for the unprecedented production of bottles based on high-density polyethylene (HDPE), one of which is foam. The result is a reduction in the CO2 footprint of the end product compared to that made on a conventional basis.

The bottles will be available at Braskem’s booth and, to close the consumption cycle, those made during the fair on Kautex machines, rather than traditionally delivered to visitors, will be collected and recycled through a partnership withErema , a manufacturer of plastic recycling machines.

The initiative confirms the commitment of the three companies to Circular Economy.

“We are looking for ways to demonstrate the importance of thinking through the complete cycle, from production to post-consumption, of products that carry our raw materials. We are delighted to be at K Fair with a partnership that uses renewable and post-consumption material, already considering recycling for product return in a new cycle. This is a clear example of our commitment to Circular Economy and how crucial business-to-business cooperation is for the success of the concept, ”explains Fabiana Quiroga, Braskem’s Director of Circular Economy and Recycling.

In a large area of the event, the Erema Circonomic Center was built, a name consisting of the words “circular” and “economy” in English, where recycling will be demonstrated in various ways through the processing of different plastic materials.  During the fair, more than 30 tons of plastic will be recycled, including the other bottles used at the event and produced by Kautex.

Gustavo Sergi, Braskem’s Director of Renewable Chemicals, stresses the importance of the company’s renewable products portfolio for the Circular Economy. “This partnership with Kautex and Erema proves once again that the global industry is interested in innovative, even more sustainable solutions that add value to the end product,” he says.

“K Fair is the world’s largest plastic event. Presenting these news and reinforcing the importance of Circular Economy, especially to our current and future customers, is of great importance to Braskem and confirms our global position in the sector ”, comments Fabiana.
